Ice Build-up--3/19/03 Access in the Rushville and Gordon area was been degraded due to a build-up of ice on a failing antenna. The antenna was replaced and service was restored. Power Outage--5/27/02 At about 4:00 P.M. on May 27, 2002, we lost all power in the Hay Springs office of eNebraska.net. According to NPPD, this outage also affected Merriman, Pine Ridge, Gordon and Rushville as well as Hay Springs. Power was restored at about 5:15 P.M. and by 5:30 P.M. all the eNebraska.net systems were up and operating. Analog Modems in Rushville Back Online--2/6/02 As some of you know, the analog modems in Rushville/Gordon (starting with 327-7610) had some difficulty beginning on Friday, 2/1/02. This was a result of some changes the telephone company decided to make to the lines. In the course of moving the connections, one line was left disconnected and another was incorrectly connected to two modems. These mistakes caused the third and fourth modems in the hunt group to malfunction, meaning that if you dialed any of the first four numbers in that modem pool, you were probably having a problem. (Unless, of course, you were the first or second person to get connected.) We tracked down the problem on Tuesday, 2/5/02, placed a service call with Great Plains Communications and the circuits were repaired Wednesday morning, 2/6/02. We think (and hope) all the changes have now been made to our incoming phone lines and this type of problem is behind us. This does reinforce the importance of knowing all ten different phone numbers available to you if you are required to dial into this analog modem pool. If you try different numbers, you can usually find a line that is working properly. If you are dialing into our analog pools because of low phone line quality (or distance from the telephone office), remember that a list of all the numbers is available from our Home Page by clicking "Support" and "Server Info". Write them down or print the page so you have them next time. Lightning Outage--6/13/01 Network outages due to thunderstorms the evening of June 12th have been corrected. A lightning strike at about 8:00 PM near Hay Springs damaged equipment on an electrical transmission line that powers some of our equipment. NPPD repaired their line by 10:30 PM and dialup service in Rushville and Gordon was back and operating. Wireless links from the Rushville-East Tower were restored by 11:30 PM. The last of our damaged hardware was replaced at 10:45 AM this morning, June 13th and the Wireless links in Hay Springs are now fully operational. Thanks for your patience! More 327 Lines Available--5/24/01 Equipment upgraded in Rushville. Doubled the modems (now 48) available in the Rushville/Gordon digital (327-4576) pool. Increased the lines available in the Rushville/Gordon analog (327-7610) pool to 10. Modem Outage Corrected--3/26/01 Slight problems with the upper 24 digital modems on the Hay Springs router. As a result, 24 customers were all that could log in at one time. Problem was fixed with a quick reset of the router. All 48 modems are available again. |
