About eNebraska.net

The eNebraska network runs on five Cisco routers, two located in our Hay Springs office, two at our POP in Rushville, and one at our POP in Chadron. We have a full T1 connection to the internet from Hay Springs. Rushville is connected to our Hay Springs office via a Breezecom wireless link. Chadron connects to our Hay Springs office via a separate T1 connection. We believe in using only the best equipment available to insure that your internet experience is a good one. Cisco's slogan is "Empowering The Internet Generation" and there is a reason why they route over 90% of all internet traffic. They are the best. Currently there are 48 digital dial-up lines in Hay Springs, 48 in Rushville, and 24 in Chadron. In addtion, there are 4 analog dial-up lines in Hay Springs and 10 in Rushville.

We are now running two servers at our Hay Springs office. The first server is responsible for email services, DNS services, and authentication services. It is running a highly modified version of Red Hat Linux on a Pentium II 350MHz CPU with a 9GB SCSI RAID configuration and 128MB of RAM. The second server handles all of our web pages plus all the sites we host. In addtion, it acts as our secondary DNS server and our Real Audio server. It too is running a modified version of Red Hat Linux. This machine is consists of a Pentium II 450MHz CPU with an 18GB SCSI RAID configuration and 256MB of RAM. Neither are a "monster" machine by today's standards at all. Why, you may ask, do we run such whimpy machines for our servers? Very simple. They do the job with power to spare! People are usually under the impression that we have some sort of fire-breathing dragon of a machine for a server. Now, as you know, that is not the case! These are PCs we built ourselves using the best quality parts available. Again, it is our job to provide you with the services you need to make your internet experience one of the best available.
